The event is organized by the NCIPD (National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases), together with the Bulgarian Association of Microbiologists. In 1910 Robert Koch was awarded with Nobel Prize for physiology and medicine, a result of 17 years of work. The work of Robert Koch has enormous significance for the development of microbiology. He and his students put into practice the hard microbiological culture media; they develop the theory of the pure culture and methods of preparing pure cultures; enshrine the basic principles of working with microorganisms - the principle of sterility; improve the methods of sterilization; bring aniline dyes for coloring the microbial preparations, they bring also the immersion lens, Abbe condenser and microphotography in the microscopic observation. The role Koch in studying the pathogens is significant. He demonstrates the importance of Bacillus anthracis in the etiology of anthrax, he isolates the cholera vibrio and the cause of tuberculosis.
