RIDA®QUICK Aflatoxin is a semi-quantitative immunochromatographic test in strip format for the detection of aflatoxin in grain, soy flour, nuts, pistachios, coconut flour, sunflower seeds, figs, dates and cashew nuts.
Results are read only visually.
General Information:
Aflatoxins are secondary metabolites produced by the fungi species Aspergillus flavus, parasiticus and nomius. Aflatoxins are highly toxic even in low concentrations. In addition, they belong to the strongest natural occurring carcinogenic substances.
In order to protect consumers against the harmful effects of aflatoxins, many countries specified limit values. According to regulation No. 1881/2006, the limit value in the EU is 4 µg/kg (total aflatoxin content). To ensure that the produced food does not exceed this limit value, regular analyses are necessary.
Test Format: 20 test strips
Sample Preparation: homogenization and extraction
Detection Limit: approx. 4 µg/kg (ppb)
Specificity: The test reacts with aflatoxin in grain (corn, wheat, barley, rye, oats, rice, millet, canola), soy flour, nuts (peanut, hazelnut, almond, brazil nut, macadamia nut), pistachios, coconut flour, sunflower seeds, figs, dates and cashew nuts
