    RIDASCREEN®FAST Sesame

    Description:

RIDASCREEN®FAST Sesame is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of sesame or parts of sesame (as ingredient components or contamination) in raw or heated food like cereals, pastries, ice cream and chocolate.

All reagents required for the enzyme immunoassay - including standards - are contained in the test kit.

    For in vitro use only.

    General Information:

Sesame seeds (Sesamum indicum) are used as raw or roasted ingredients in pastries, ice cream, cereals, chocolate or for the production of oil or paste (Tahina). Labeling of sesame is mandatory in the European Union, Canada and Australia.
Sesame seed food allergy is an increasingly recognized health burden, the symptoms vary from allergic eczema to life threatening anaphylactic reactions. Until now, seven different proteins of sesame were identified as allergens (Ses i 1-7). The only effective treatment to protect sensitized patients from allergic symptoms is a strict avoidance of sesame containing food.
